A Week With Room 17

Tuesday morning saw a brilliant red dawn sky over the Manawa block. Its going to be a good day!
From Room 17 we can see out across the school field. The field was misty and foggy up until 8.00am. We can see the sky tower from our class.
On Tuesday mornings at 10.30am we have tennis lessons that are part of Rosebank School Kiwisport. Today we learnt the forehand stroke. We started playing a game over the tennis nets.

We have also been playing some fun tennis warm up games before our tennis lessons.
Here we are outside Manawa block waiting patiently for our lessons.

Ambury Farm Trip

The Ambury Farm scientist is showing us how lava flows from a volcano after an eruption. She used baking soda and vinegar mixed with coke which acted like a volcano. We really enjoyed this experiment.

Here we are sitting in the barn learning about how New Zealand is on a major fault line. We learnt what to do if there was a volcanic eruption in Auckland.

We went down into a very dark lava cave. We had to wear yellow safety helmets because the entrance down into the cave was very narrow. It was so dark in the cave and a little frightening. The cave was made after Mount Mangere erupted.
