Matariki Week
This week we are celebrating Matariki. Every day we go to the hall and Whaea Rebecca leads us through some awesome Matariki activities.
In the afternoon we carried out a Science experiment to see if sound travels through a balloon. We learnt that because the air in a balloon is compressed the sound is louder.

Mañawa Assembly and More
Mañawa hosted Fridays assembly. Annette from Room 15 and Caleb from Room 18 were our Mañawa hosts. All classes shared some great work from term two.
Room 17 has been learning to say their mihi in preparation for school speeches. Kayne, Vichika, Zayyaan, Thai-La and Dante shared their mihi with the school. Kiti introduced them to the school.
In the afternoon Cathy came to talk to us about 'Sound'. Cathy is a hearing nurse, she is testing children's ears to make sure their ears are healthy. She talked to us about how we hear sounds and how to keep our ears healthy. She told us that is so important never to put anything in yours ears and that our ears clean themselves. You shouldn't ever use cotton buds to clean your ears because they can actually infect your ear drum.
